BAKERSFIELD, CA - In a tense and hard-fought match, the Bakersfield College women's soccer team came up just short in a 1-0 loss to the Santa Monica College Corsairs. at Bakersfield's home pitch, both teams showcased resilient defenses, with Bakersfield's goalkeeper Mercedes Ramirez putting on an impressive display, recording six crucial saves and keeping Santa Monica scoreless until late in the game.

The first half saw Bakersfield hold off Santa Monica's attack, with Ramirez denying five shots. Meanwhile, BC had few chances of its own, with their first shot on goal coming in the second half.

The game's sole goal came at the 69th minute when the Corsairs found the back of the net for Santa Monica with an unassisted effort that slipped past BC. The Renegades pushed back, earning three corner kicks and three shots on goal, all saved by Santa Monica's goalkeeper.

Bakersfield's players fought hard until the final whistle but were hindered by yellow cards and a late red card for forward Jasmine Sandoval.

With the loss, the Renegades move to 6-7-2 overall and 3-4-1 in conference on the season.
