Giants Mid-February Update
The Giants enter the month of February 2-1 as they split at Allan Hancock and beat Bakersfield College.
In the series against Marin, the Giants won 2-1. In game 1, they lost 14-7 with Zach Milhous (Monache HS) and Kanani Judd-Au (Kahuku, HI) being the top performers. Milhous went 2-for-2 and Judd-Au went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. In game 2, the Giants won 1-5. Ethan Winslow (Kingsburg HS), Isaiah Munoz (Clovis North HS), and Benjamin Rodriguez (Tulare Western HS) had huge games; Winslow went 3-for-4 with 1 RBI, Munoz went 3-for-4 with a RBI double, and Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with 2-R homerun. Keine Prendez (Dinuba HS) had a strong outing on the mound by allowing 4 hits and had 4 strikeouts over 5 innings. In series finale, the Giants win on a walk-off hit by winning 8-7. Ethan Winslow, Diego Sanchez (Bakersfield Christian HS), and Kaleb Castanon (El Diamante HS) with great performances. Winslow went 2-for-2, Sanchez went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs, and Castanon had a walk-off RBI single. Joseph Gamber (Fresno HS) came in relief and allowed 2 hits over 3 innings with 4 strikeouts.
In the next series, the Giants hosted Golden West and lost 2-1. A few top offensive performers included Benjamin Rodriguez, Nick Senn (El Diamante HS), Ethan Winslow, and Jesse Ortega (Dinuba HS). Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs including 2-R homerun and Senn had 2-RBI double in game 1. Alex Hernandez (Redwood HS) also had a good outing off the mound by allowing 2 hits with 4 strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched in the series opener. Ethan Winslow went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs including a RBI double and Jesse Ortega had a 2-RBI double in game 2.
COS will host homestand starting Tuesday, February 13 versus Allan Hancock at 2 pm and will also host Folsom Lake Friday and Saturday, February 16-17, starting on Friday here at COS starting at 2 pm.
