BAKERSFIELD, CA - In a decisive match at Bakersfield, the home team showcased their offensive talents with a commanding 5-0 victory over the LA Valley Monarchs. This win gave the Bakersfield College Renegades a first conference win to improve them to 4-4-1 overall and a perfect 1-1 in conference play.
Bakersfield wasted no time asserting their dominance, scoring two quick goals in the first half. Sophomore Emily Vincent opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a well-placed shot after receiving an assist from freshman Griselda Espinoza. Just under two minutes later, Vincent struck again with an unassisted goal, giving BC a comfortable 2-0 lead by the 16-minute mark. LA Valley struggled to respond, mustering only two shots in the period, while their goalkeeper was busy with five saves.
The second half continued to favor the Renegades as they extended their lead with three more goals. Freshman Alexandra Gallardo found the back of the net in the 72nd minute, assisted by forward Marlenis Andrades, putting Bakersfield ahead 3-0. Just five minutes later, Espinoza scored another goal for the ladies in red, receiving an assist from Gallardo. Vincent capped off her impressive night by completing her hat trick in the 88th minute, scoring her third goal after an assist from defender Brooklynn Tucker.
Up next, BC will play another home match against College of the Canyons on Tuesday, October 8th at 1:30 PM at the BC Soccer Fields.
