COS continues their winning streak to 7 games as they sweep the West Hills-Coalinga Falcons in the doubleheader today. Before the game, the 1994 State Championship team was honored. In the first game, the Giants win with a final score of 9-1. Emily Ibarra (Redwood HS) and Megan Melson (Tulare Union HS) provided 5 of the 8 RBIs. Ibarra went 4-for-4 including 2 doubles, a triple, and 3 RBIs and Melson added 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs. Grace Chojnacki (Mission Oak HS) added a RBI single at the plate, while she pitched a no-hitter over 5 innings and struck out 9 batters.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Giants won 13-0 in 5 innings, due to the run rule. Islea Villarreal (Dinuba HS), Bailee Bustos (Mission Oak HS), and Anela Hernandez (Waialua, HI) provided a ton oof offense as they all had 2 RBIs each. Villarreal had a 2-run triple, Bustos added a 2-run double, and Hernandez had a 2-run single. Grace Chojnacki earned her 10th win on the season as she allowed 3 runs, no runs, and had 10 strikeouts.
COS will now be preparing to continue Central Valley Conference play next Tuesday, April 26 when they go on the road to Merced College for a doubleheader.
