No. 1 Vikings Dominate Battle at the Beach with Perfect 4-0 Record
The Vikings dominated their home tournament, Battle at the Beach, with a perfect 4-0 record this past weekend.
The No. 1-ranked women's water polo team dominated their home tournament, Battle at the Beach, with a perfect 4-0 record this past weekend. The Vikings opened on Friday with strong wins, defeating LA Valley 12-5 and Saddleback 12-9, and continued their streak Saturday, overpowering Orange Coast 12-3 and Riverside City College 12-8.
"On Friday, we started off strong, but as we kept winning, we relaxed a bit, which allowed the other teams to take advantage," said freshman attacker Mar Bernal. "We'll focus on tightening up our defense and making a few adjustments before our next game."
Sophomore attacker Olivia Slavens led the weekend with an impressive 12 goals, while freshman Jennifer Connelly followed closely, adding 11 goals to the Vikings' tally. The team now looks ahead to their final South Coast Conference game of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 30, where they'll face El Camino College at 3 p.m.
