
The VC men's basketball team completed the Milt Stowe Classic in Porterville by holding off El Camino for a 61-59 victory. Bo Dolinsek once again led the Pirates with 21 points and Kevin Hymes netted 13, including an 11-15 performance at the free throw line. Elijah Brown and Jeremiah Wilson added 11 and 10 points, respectively, to the effort for Ventura (6-5).
Dolinsek netted 10 points and Brown tallied nine as VC held a 31-29 lead at intermission.
The Pirates were able to hold off the Warriors despite scoring their final field goal with 2:30 remaining in the game. Hymes hit one of two free throws with 5.8 seconds left to set the final margin.
Ventura next travels to Riverside on Wednesday Dec. 4 to play the Tigers to open the Hypland Classic. The Pirates will return to Riverside to play San Bernardino Valley on Saturday Dec. 7.
