Chargers Hand Riverside First Conference Loss
Cypress Uses Strong Defense, Timely Shooting, and Balanced Scoring to Control the Game and Secure the Win
CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress Chargers handed Riverside City College their first conference loss of the season, defeating the Tigers 74-65 in a hard-fought battle. The Chargers showcased a formidable defense and clutch three-point shooting to secure the victory.
Cypress set the tone early with a commanding 12-2 run midway through the first half, sparked by a three-pointer from Isaiah Valenzuela. The Chargers drained three consecutive triples during the run and entered halftime with a 35-28 lead.
The momentum continued after the break, as Cypress opened the second half with a 7-1 run, extending their lead to 42-29. From that point forward, the Chargers controlled the game on both ends of the floor.
Michael Wright led the way for Cypress, delivering a stellar performance with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and a block. Key contributors included Jack Rivera, who added 12 points and 4 rebounds, and Peyton Guerrero, who scored 10 points while dishing out a team-high 7 assists. The Chargers dominated the glass, totaling 32 rebounds and limiting Riverside's second-chance opportunities.
