The VC women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Bakersfield Friday at the VC Tennis Center. Beryllyn Paz and Chrystelle Aguiar won in doubles while Aguiar and Nicole Iannacone scored points in singles play for the Pirates.
Ventura took one of three doubles contests with Aguiar and Paz winning their No. 3 match, 8-1.
Iannacone tied the score at 2-2 with her 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles before BC scored the next three points with wins at Nos. 3, 1 and 5 singles, respectively. Aguiar then captured her No. 5 singles match 6-3, 6-3 before Bella DeRosa dropped her No. 4 singles match-up in a hard-fought three sets.
The Pirates (5-7, 3-6) continue Western State Conference play hosting Los Angeles Mission on Tuesday March 12 at the VC Tennis Center.
