Vikings Secure Dominant Home Victory Over Porterville College, 73-50
The Long Beach City College women's basketball team delivered a commanding performance, defeating the Porterville College Pirates 73-50 on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Vikings improved to 3-3 on the season.
"This was a great bounce-back game for us," said sophomore forward Brillana Boyd. "We were coming off a losing streak, so it feels good to get this win."
Boyd led the charge with an impressive stat line, recording 28 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Sophomore point guard Kimberly Cruz-Martinez was instrumental in applying pressure to the Pirates, contributing 12 assists, four rebounds, four steals, and eight points.
Freshman center Taylah Paepule added a double-double, tallying 12 points and 10 rebounds to round out a strong team effort.
"It was a great night for the Vikings," said Head Coach Dominic Freeman. "The team played with great energy, had fun, and earned a solid win against a good Porterville squad. We're thrilled to get our first home victory of the season."
The Vikings will return to action on Friday, Nov. 23, when they face LA Mission at 5 p.m.
