Falcons Open Season with a Draw Against Lake Tahoe Community College

Lake Tahoe - The Folsom Lake Falcons kicked off their 2024 season as the defending 3C2A State Champions, fully aware that they would have a target on their backs throughout the season. In their season opener, a non-conference road game against Lake Tahoe Community College, the Falcons faced a determined opponent and battled to a 1-1 draw.

The match started with both teams testing the waters, but it was Lake Tahoe who struck first. At the 25-minute mark, Leslie Jacobo-Duran scored off an assist from Emily Brandt, giving Lake Tahoe a 1-0 lead. Despite the early setback, the Falcons stayed composed, knowing they had plenty of time to respond.

In the second half, Folsom Lake upped the pressure and found their equalizer in the 60th minute. Kylie Deome took advantage of a defensive lapse by Lake Tahoe and scored an unassisted goal, leveling the score at 1-1. The Falcons continued to push for a winner but were unable to break down Lake Tahoe's defense a second time.

Statistically, the Falcons dominated possession and had more shots on goal, but they could not convert their opportunities into a decisive advantage. Despite the draw, Folsom Lake showed resilience and determination, qualities that will serve them well as they navigate a season where they will often face opponents eager to dethrone the reigning champions.
