In a game that it led almost from start to finish, the GCC Men's Basketball Team beat Santa Ana College 81-79 Monday Nov. 4 in its 2024-25 season home opener in the Verdugo Gym to improve to 1-1 this season.
The game was tied 42-42 at halftime and the Vaqs expanded that lead to 12 points in the third quarter on a 3-pointer by Nigel Dickens who led Glendale with 23 points and hit three, 3-pointers. Tyson Jackson added some crucial baskets and free throws down the stretch and finished with 20 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Brandon Blair added 15 points and Jonathan Hakim had eight points and a team high eight rebounds.
Glendale shot the ball well against Santa Ana, hitting 45 percent of its shots from the field, 40 percent from the 3-point line and 79 percent of its free throws. GCC faces Grossmont at 5 pm on Thursday Nov. 7 at 5 pm in the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament.
