The Giants (12-14) had a 3-game set against Saddleback College (15-9) this week.
COS fell behind 5-0 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning. Matthew Raygoza (Hanford HS) hit a RBI single in the bottom of the 5th to make it 5-1. Their rally fell short as Diego Sanchez (Bakersfield Christian HS) hit RBI single in the bottom of the 8th inning. The game ended with a final score of 5-2.
The second game of the series, The Giants fell back 2-0 after the top of the 5th inning. Alex Lopez (Golden West HS) hit a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 1 run as Jesse Ortega (Dinuba HS) got an RBI groundout. The game was tied 2-2 until COS gave up a 2-run homerun in the top of the 9th. The Giants ended up losing game 2 of the series 4-2.
In the final game of the series versus Saddleback, the Giants began the game giving up 2 runs through the first 5 innings. Going into the bottom of the 7th inning, COS was still down 2-0. They scored 5 runs in this inning with Nick Senn's (El Diamante HS) RBI single, Alex Lopez' 2-run single, Isaiah Munoz' (Clovis North HS) RBI single, and Jesse Ortega's RBI single. Nicholas Morelli (Clovis HS) came in relief and picked up the win as he pitched a strong 3 innings allowing 2 hits.
The Giants are now 13-16 (6-8) as they continue Central Valley Conference play next week with a series versus Reedley College. The series will start on Tuesday on the road at Reedley at 2pm. They will return home on Thursday, April 4th at 2 pm.
