San Joaquin Delta 4, COS 0
In a tough road matchup at San Joaquin Delta, the Giants fell 4-0. "We struggled to find our rhythm and contain their offense," said Head Coach Brooklyn Morris. The Giants conceded two goals in each half, with Delta opening the scoring in the 20th minute through Hailey Stubbles. Jenna Campbell added a second goal in the 33rd minute.
"We need to regroup and work on our defensive shape," added Morris. Goalkeeper Haylie Brasil (Manteca HS) contributed with three saves on the match.
COS 3, Allan Hancock 0
The Giants responded strongly just days later, claiming a 3-0 win over Allan Hancock in their home opener. "It was important to bounce back after the Delta game, and the team showed great character," said Morris. Sequoias took an early lead when Alize San Juan (Golden West HS) scored in the 6th minute, assisted by Amber Cole (Lemoore HS).
Jimena Rivera (Golden West HS) then took control in the second half, netting one goal in the 52nd minute, assisted by Payten Ball (Redwood HS), and scored another goal in the 74th minute to seal the win. "Jimena's performance was outstanding, and the whole team stepped up defensively," praised Morris. Hancock managed 13 shots, but Sequoias' defense, anchored by Brasil's nine saves, held firm for the clean sheet.
