KNIGHTS STRUGGLE IN 45-0 LOSS TO SIERRA

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's football team lost 45-0 to visiting Sierra College Saturday at Memorial Stadium to be shut out for the first time since 2013.

The Knights (0-2 NorCal, 1-6) was outgained 361-158 and held to a season-low 95 net passing yards. Quarterback Eli Wehbey completed 10 of 21 passes for 86 yards with an interception and the Knights surrendered four sacks in the contest.

Sierra scored on its opening possession to take a 7-0 lead on a 7-yard pass from Cruz Herrera to Semaj Clark. But the Wolverines scored three times in the final seven minutes of the first half to go into the break with a commanding 28-0 lead.

Herrera rushed for a 1-yard touchdown, threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Dontae Robinson on the ensuing drive and returned a Shasta fumble 75 yards for a touchdown just before intermission.

Sierra padded its lead on a 2-yard rushing touchdown from Elijah Reed on their opening drive of the third quarter for a five-score lead. Andrew Dennis added a 47-yard field goal early in the fourth and Gesyrus Scott found pay dirt on a 6-yard run late in the fourth to put the game away.

Shasta never ran a play inside the Sierra 20-yard line in the game. It was the first time the Knights were shut out since falling to Butte 65-0 on Sept. 21, 2013.

Jaylen Thomas rushed 11 times for a game-high 62 yards, Levi Durrell added 28 rushing yards on three attempts. Hakeem Lowe led the Knights in receiving with 24 yards on three catches and Pete Pennington had two catches for 21 yards.

Shasta was led on defense by Gavin Skerik, who recorded 18 tackles including 1.5 tackles for a loss. Hekili Dizol added 10 tackles and an interception and Jabrayan Richburg had the Knights' lone sack and two tackles for a loss.
