Cougars Suffer Home Loss vs. LAVC

College of the Canyons dropped its Saturday afternoon home matchup vs. L.A. Valley College in a 73-39 result.
Once again it was the duo of Alissa Saridin and Mia Ceja leading the Cougars with Ceja putting up 22 points after going 7-of-9 at the free-throw line and working for six defensive rebounds in her 37 minutes on the court.
Saridin followed with 15 points going 6-of-11 from the field and 2-of-2 behind the arc while producing 11 rebounds, three offensive and eight defensive, and two assists in her 40 minutes of play.
Canyons (4-14, 0-4) fought to stay in the game, but could not get a hold on the Monarch's offense. LAVC's Vhenus Gaoa put up 19 points, while Samantha Maldonado raked in 13 with Leilani Richards right behind with 12 points.
The Monarchs (8-9, 2-1) took charge from start to finish, leaving the Cougars trailing through the duration before ultimately walking away with the victory
Canyons is on the road for its next matchup versus Santa Monica College on Saturday, Jan. 25 with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m. The Cougars had Wednesday's, Jan. 22 game at West L.A. College postponed due to wildfires in the area.
