Canyons Gets 7-2 Road Win at Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA — College of the Canyons ended its two-game losing streak with a 7-2 conference road win over Santa Barbara City College on Thursday.
The victory came via a pair of doubles victories and four singles wins. COC also earned a default point on both sides for the 7-2 final.
The Lady Cougars (9-3, 52) are now a perfect 5-0 in road matches and sit second in the Western State Conference (WSC) standings tied with Glendale College (8-3, 5-2) behind first place Santa Monica College (7-2, 7-0).
Canyons was forced to go the distance in finding the win column with three matches needing extra sets to determine a winner.
Sydney Tamondong did so with her win from the No. 1 singles position, as did Faith Abt from the No. 4 position. They were joined by No. 5 Jaclyn Wosk in playing to singles victories.
Canyons is next scheduled for action at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, vs. Bakersfield College in another Western State Conference (WSC) matchup.
