Bakersfield Grabs their First Home Win

BAKERSFIELD, CA The Bakersfield College women's basketball team secured a gritty 47-38 victory over the Lemoore Golden Eagles in a defensive struggle at the Gil Bishop Sports Center on Thanksgiving Eve. Despite shooting struggles on both sides, the Renegade's dominance on the board secured them the win.

BC jumped out to a 13-9 lead after the first quarter but was held to just six points in the second, as both teams struggled offensively. Lemoore's aggressive defense forced turnovers, but Bakersfield entered halftime with a narrow 19-17 lead.

The third quarter saw the Renegades extend its lead behind freshman Dasani Allen, who led the night with 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for a double-double. The Golden Eagles had a brief rally in the fourth quarter, but Bakersfield's defensive intensity and 13 second-chance points proved too much for the visitors. Freshman guard Sara Shein added 13 points and six rebounds, including two three-pointers while guard/forward Jocelyn Pope dominated with 10 rebounds off the bench.

Bakersfield controlled the boards with a 57-42 rebounding advantage and turned 24 offensive rebounds into 13 second-chance points. Lemoore struggled from the field, shooting just 23.1%, including 9.5% from beyond the arc. BC's improved third-quarter shooting and stronger bench play helped secure the win.

With the victory, the Renegades improve to 2-3 on the season.
