The Panther men swept through last week's three game series with Mt San Jacinto take the 1st place position in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference.
Tuesday, the teams went 12 innings in a battle begun by the Eagles and held until the bottom of the 8th inning 4-0. In the 8th, Chaffey took their first lead of the game off a Ryder Young single, Jacob Billings double, Andrew "Tank" Rodriguez sac fly, and a Kai (Michai) Harrison two RBI single. The Eagles evened it out in the 9th. With the light dwindling at Lowder Field, Javier Mendez Jr. managed a 12th inning single to bring Billings across home for the walk off win. Brian Garcia earned the win, coming in after seven innings to relieve Brock Mayer.
Thursday, it was an 8-5 win for Chaffey with the Panthers leading the entire nine innings. Ryder Young and PJ Torrez Jr. knocked homers for Chaffey. Young led the team with three hits and three RBIs. Joseph O'Regan got his 7th win of the season facing 28 batters. James Rivera and Damian Hernandez were on relief with Hernandez snagging the save.
A 6-3 win Saturday gave the Panthers a weeklong sweep. Yahir Ramirez opened scoring with a single to bring in Devean Alvarez. In the 4th, Preston Allen doubled followed by an Alvarez single to take the score to 4-1. Runs in the 6th and 8th sealed the win and the series - pushing the Panthers solidly into first place.
The team will take on Cerritos tomorrow (away) and Victor Valley Thursday (home).
