CYPRESS, CA – The Chargers won a hard-fought game against the Tigers, 61-52 on Friday night.
The game began with both teams trading baskets in a closely contested first quarter, with Cypress edging out a slim 21-19 lead.
The Chargers came out strong in the second quarter, opening with an 11-2 run that gave them their largest lead of the game. However, Riverside responded, narrowing the gap to 37-33 by halftime.
Cypress took control of the game in the third quarter. A late 5-2 run, sparked by a key layup from forward Mariah Henderson, put the Chargers up by nine heading into the final period.
Key Contributors were Kalysa Ng with a team-high 13 points and Christaesha Jackson who led with team with 19 rebounds. The Chargers' dominance on the boards was a decisive factor, as they out-rebounded the Tigers 42-26.
