No. 12 CCSF advances to Round 2 of NorCal Playoffs; travels to No. 5 Cañada

SAN FRANCISCO – Jose Magallon's goal in the 84th minute proved to be the game-winner for No. 12-seed City College of San Francisco in its narrow 1-0 win over No. 21 Cabrillo College in an opening-round game of the 3C2A Northern California Regional Playoffs on Wednesday.

The Rams move on to Round 2 where they will take on No. 5-seeded Cañada College on Saturday in Redwood City. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Ticket prices for the 3C2A postseason game are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old. No. 5 Cañada enters the postseason with a 12-3-6 overall record. Under head coach Erik Gaspar, the Colts finished second in the Coast Conference North Division with an 8-2-3 mark. As a top-8 seed, the Colts received a first-round bye.

CCSF and Cañada will meet for the second time this season. On Oct. 29, the Rams were edged 1-0 in Redwood City.

The winner of Saturday's game will face either No. 4 Folsom Lake College or No. 13 Taft College in a third-round game on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Three more wins are needed by the Rams to advance to the 3C2A State Championships on Dec. 6 & 8 at American River College in Sacramento.
