SRJC 66, Butte College 59

For their final pre-conference home game, the Bear Cubs (6-2) hosted the Roadrunners (5-5) of Butte College. The Bear Cubs scored the first 10 points of the contest on Ivy Gonzalez's steal and full-court layup and two free throws, Sydney Martin's 18-footer and 3-pointer, and one free throw by Kaia Eubanks. Giselle Rodriquez's putback with 5:50 on the clock got the Roadrunners on the scoreboard, and 21 seconds later Shade Satica made a field goal. The Bear Cubs scored two baskets in a row—Gonzalez's fast break layup and Eubanks's press breaking layup off of Shasta Vlasak's assist—before the halfway point of the quarter. Maliyah Rivera swished a 3-pointer at the 3:51 mark to cut their deficit to 7-14. The Bear Cubs added eight unanswered points on Gonzalez's 5-foot pullup jumper, her 3-pointer, and Hailey Webb's 3-pointer before Satica's 3-pointer completed the scoring in the period with the Bear Cubs in front 22-10.

The Roadrunners started the second quarter with the ball, and Maria Bautista sank a field goal. The Bear Cubs committed two turnovers in a row before Lindsey Arellano was able to drive down the middle and toss in a one-handed runner from about four feet. During the next two minutes Giselle Rodriquez made a basket, Ivy Gonzalez two free throws, Shade Satica a field goal, and Caitlin Baldwin a 3-pointer, putting the Bear Cubs' lead at 29-16. The Roadrunners hit a field goal at the 5:57 mark and then one free throw 35 seconds later. The Bear Cubs then went on a 10-0 run on four shots in a row—Gonzalez's 2-footer off of Shasta Vlasak's assist, Sydney Martin's 3-pointer, Gonzalez's 3-pointer, and Kaia Eubanks' 2-footer on a low post reverse pivot—to widen their lead to 39-19 with 3:04 on the clock. After Maria Bautista made one free throw, Lindsey Arellano sank a 15-footer with 1:46 left. The Roadrunners quickly drained three 3-pointers in a row. Gonzalez's 3-pointer two seconds before the halftime buzzer made the Bear Cubs' advantage 44-29.

Sydney Martin scored the first two points of the third quarter on a putback of her own miss. The Roadrunners got hot, scoring 18 unanswered points, including four 3-pointers to jump ahead 47-46 with 5:25 on the clock. Ivy Gonzalez finally broke the Bear Cubs' scoreless streak with a drive at the 4:31 mark. Kaia Eubanks drew a shooting foul over a minute later, making both free throws, and her give-and-go play with Caitlin Baldwin with 2:50 left gave the Bear Cubs a 52-47 margin. Shade Satica swished her fourth 3-pointer of the game with 1:31 remaining. Neither team scored again in the period, so the Bear Cubs' lead was down to 52-50.

Shade Satica took the first shot of the fourth quarter and tied the score. Her 3-pointer at the 8:52 mark gave the Roadrunners' their largest lead at 55-52. The Bear Cubs missed their first nine shots of the period before Lindsey Arellano's scoring drive along the left side with 5:40 on the clock. The Bear Cubs scored six more unanswered points on Kaia Eubanks' 2-footer off of Arellano's assist, Ivy Gonzalez's 6-foot fade-away shot, and her low post move to take a 60-55 lead with 1:01 left. Twenty seconds later Giselle Rodriguez was fouled on a shot attempt and made just the second free throw. The Bear Cubs called a timeout and advanced the ball to their front court sideline. When play resumed, the Bear Cubs eventually got the ball to Sydney Martin at the high post, who passed down to Gonzalez cutting to the hoop for the open layup. The Roadrunners missed their shot attempt, and Gonzalez was fouled after grabbing the rebound. She made both free throws with 17 seconds remaining. The Roadrunners called their final timeout and advanced the ball. After inbounding the ball, it eventually ended up in the hands of Nahkia Clements, who drained her sixth 3-pointer. The Bear Cubs inbounded the ball and Gonzalez was again fouled. She sank both free throws with 11 seconds to go. The Roadrunners missed their final shot, Gonzalez rebounded and ran out the clock on the Bear Cubs' 66-59 win.

For the second game in a row, the Bear Cubs raced out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and had to fight off their opponents who outscored them 21-8 in the third period. The Bear Cubs had committed six turnovers in each of the first three quarters but did not make any in the pivotal fourth, enabling them to regain control of the game while also preventing the Roadrunners from getting good looks at the basket. The Roadrunners sank 12 3-pointers and the Bear Cubs 7. Shade Satica led the Roadrunners with 25 points, including 5 3-pointers, and Nahkia Clements put in 6 3-pointers and a field goal for 20 points.

Ivy Gonzalez registered her fourth double-double with 31 points and 12 rebounds. Sydney Martin recorded her first double-double on 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and a season-high 13 rebounds. Kaia Eubanks was one rebound short of her third double-double, as she scored 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Lindsey Arellano added 6 points, Caitlin Baldwin and Hailey Webb 3 each. Sydney Martin and Lindsey Arellano each passed for 3 assists.
