
Cypress Chargers Host 41st Annual Charger Classic Tournament
Cypress Falls to Moorpark in Championship
Game 1: Cypress 60, Grossmont 52
The Chargers kicked off the tournament with a thrilling victory over Grossmont College. In a fast-paced game that went point-for-point, Kalysa Ng sparked the momentum with a clutch assist to Chelsea Caldera for a three-pointer, giving Cypress the edge in the final five minutes. Christaesha Jackson sealed the deal with a dominant nine-point scoring run to close out the game, finishing with a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds.
Other key performances included:
- Chelsea Caldera: 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists.
- Mariah Henderson: 6 points, 11 rebounds.
Game 2: Cypress 61, Palomar 53
In the semifinals, the Chargers faced Palomar College in a hard-fought battle. Palomar's full-court press tested Cypress early, but the Chargers rallied in the final minutes. Kylah Sagale ignited the comeback with a crowd-pleasing three-pointer, giving Cypress its first lead of the game. Kalysa Ng added another critical three-pointer, extending the lead with less than a minute remaining. Free throws in the closing seconds secured the win and a spot in the championship game.

- Kylah Sagale: 10 points, 2 assists, 100% shooting from the field.
- Christaesha Jackson: Another double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
- Kalysa Ng: 9 points, including 3 three-pointers.
Championship Game: Cypress 45, Moorpark 60
The Chargers faced a tough Moorpark team in the championship round. Cypress opened strong with a 7-0 run but couldn't maintain the momentum as Moorpark surged ahead late in the first quarter and held the lead for the remainder of the game.
