No. 17-ranked Riverside City College opened on an 11-0 run but couldn't sustain it Friday night, falling 81-73 to Chaffey College.
The Tigers slip to 8-5 on the year, while the Panthers improve to 7-3 overall.
RCC shot well from the floor (43.8 percent) despite only shooting 25.8 percent from the perimeter and only taking two free throws all game.
Andre Skelin led the Tigers with 23 points (10-for-16) and 18 rebounds, while Christian Warren followed with 20 points (9-for-21). Deacon Toliver chipped in 11 boards, while Jayden Miller dished out 11 assists.
After Riverside opened hot, Chaffey regrouped and took over the lead halfway through the first half and never looked back. The Tigers tried to claw their way back in it heading down the stretch and pulled within eight but couldn't overcome the Panthers.
The Tigers look to bounce back as they get the Orange Empire Conference season underway next week, heading to Orange Coast College on Monday at 3 p.m.
