Cypress Chargers Women's Soccer Advances to State Tournament Semifinals
CYPRESS, CA – The No. 1 Cypress Chargers Women's Soccer team is headed back to the 3C2A State Tournament for the second consecutive year, determined to achieve redemption after last year's heartbreaking finish. The Chargers will face No. 4 San Francisco City College on Friday, December 6, at 4:00 PM at American River College in Sacramento.
Cypress enters the tournament riding an impressive eight-game winning streak, including dominant performances in the SoCal Regionals. The Chargers have been unstoppable in their playoff journey, outscoring opponents 9-1 across three matches while showcasing a balanced attack and stellar defense.

Round 2 vs. College of the Desert (4-0):
Gritsey Ramirez and Megan Alcantara each scored two goals, with assists from Itzel Ramirez (2) and Kristine Ramirez (1). Goalkeeper Sofia Lopez recorded a clean sheet with one save. -
Round 3 vs. Santa Monica College (2-0):
Megan Alcantara netted one goal, while Itzel Ramirez added another with an assist from Amber Mielke. Lopez stood tall in goal with five crucial saves. -
Round 4 vs. Chaffey College (3-1):
Gritsey Ramirez and Itzel Ramirez each recorded a goal and an assist, while Megan Alcantara sealed the win with a late penalty kick. Lopez contributed three saves, supported by an exceptional defensive line led by Jennifer Arteaga, Alisa Kangas, and Janae Kayser.
State Tournament Preview
The Chargers (20-1-3) enter the State Tournament riding an eight-game winning streak and brimming with confidence. Offensively, Itzel Ramirez has been the team's catalyst, contributing goals and assists in each playoff game. Defensively, the Chargers have been a fortress, allowing just one goal through the postseason, thanks to the combined efforts of their backline and goalkeeper Sofia Lopez.
Cypress will take on No. 4 San Francisco City College in Friday's semifinal. A victory would advance the Chargers to the State Championship match on Sunday, December 8, at 2:00 PM.
