Palomar College Tops El Camino College in Four-Set Thriller

SAN MARCOS, CA (8/30/2024) -- The Palomar College women's volleyball team continued their strong start to the season with a hard-fought four-set victory over El Camino College (25-18, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20). The Comets displayed resilience and teamwork to secure their third consecutive win, maintaining their unbeaten streak.

Janell Spires once again led the offensive charge with a stellar performance, recording 19 kills and 14 digs while adding two service aces. Her powerful and consistent play was instrumental in the Comets' success. Sonsi Jarvis was equally impressive, contributing 16 kills and 11 digs, proving to be a reliable force on both ends of the court.

Teiora Tinoisamoa dominated at the net with six blocks, complementing her six kills, which helped stifle El Camino's offensive efforts. Brisa Necochea also played a crucial role, notching seven kills and three blocks, adding to the team's formidable front-line defense.

From the service line, Melanie Jarvis delivered three aces, keeping El Camino on their heels throughout the match. Defensively, Cadence Young was a standout, leading the team with 22 digs, ensuring that the Comets' backcourt remained solid against a determined opponent.

Palomar's middle blockers have been outstanding so far this season, consistently contributing to both the offensive and defensive efforts. Their performance has been a cornerstone of the team's early success.

With this victory, the Comets are riding high as they prepare for their first road game of the season. They will travel to Santa Ana College on Wednesday, looking to extend their winning streak and continue their impressive form.
