No. 2-ranked Riverside City College took on three ranked foes at the Orange Coast Invitational on Friday and Saturday, taking home three out of four wins.
The Tigers improve to 8-1 on the year, with their only loss coming to No. 3-ranked Long Beach City College.
12-4 win vs. Citrus College
In the first game of the four-day tournament, RCC held Citrus scoreless in two quarters to steamroll to a 12-4 victory. Yosra Elseifi led the Tigers with five goals, while Aleira Valenzuela, Chandler Burrell and Abigail Ruiz each rattled in two goals. Naomi Morales also had a goal in the lopsided win, while Sofia Mather made eight saves in the cage.
9-7 loss to #3 Long Beach
Riverside and Long Beach squared off for the second time in less than a week, this time with the Vikings coming out on top. It came down to the wire, but Long Beach managed to hold onto the 9-7 result. Annabella Storar led the Tigers with two goals, while RCC also saw scores from Samantha Thomas, Kaia Boone, Nicole Robertson, Clare Baty and Elseifi.
15-10 win vs. #6 Orange Coast
The Tigers took on the host Pirates in the opener of day two of the tournament and started on a high note. Ruiz scored on a power play just 16 seconds into the contest and finished with three goals in the game. Storar led the Tigers with four goals, while Elseifi added three goals. RCC also saw Robertson (two goals), Thomas, Boone and Burrell find the back of the cage.
10-2 win vs. #10 Saddleback College
The Tigers dominated a 10-2 victory over No. 10-ranked Saddleback College to cap the tournament. Six different RCC players scored, with Elseifi and Robertson leading the charge with three goals each. Thomas, Storar, Burrell, and Ruiz also netted goals for the Tigers.
Riverside – which opened Orange Empire Conference action last week with a dominating 21-8 victory over Cypress College – returns to conference action on Wednesday, hosting Fullerton College at 3 p.m.
