The MSJC volleyball team is currently tied for the top spot in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference with one week to go in the regular season.
The Eagles won two of their earlier three matches and currently stand at 9-1 in IEAC play with two contests remaining. MSJC lost a match on the road to San Bernardino Valley on October 25th dropping them into a tie with the Wolverines. SBVC won in straight sets 21-25, 15-25, and 21-25. Audrey Franks had a team best 10 kills in the match while Josephine Springer knocked down 8 kills and had 12 digs. Amari Ramirez dished out a team high 15 assists.
The Eagles rebounded this past week with a pair of easy wins over Copper Mountain and Cerro Coso. Wednesday MSJC traveled to Copper Mountain where they swept the Fighting Cacti by scores of 25-5, 25-3, and 25-1. Megan Gajda had 9 kills followed by Lorena Lopez with 8 while Kyahanna Jones passed out 12 assists.
In their most recent match, the Eagles swept Cerro Coso at home on Friday night as they won by scores of 25-10, 25-19, and 25-23. Gajda led in kills with 11 while Springer had 8 and Franks had 7. Kalia Anady had a match high 13 assists. Brooklyn Jimenez led the defense with 12 digs while Franks and Hailey Frary both had 5 block assists.
MSJC now 15-9 overall will finish the regular season this week with a trip to Victor Valley on Wednesday and a home match Friday against Chaffey. Friday's home match will celebrate the team's 2024 sophomores and will begin at 6 pm.
