After winning the College of the Sequoias Tournament the last two seasons, the Cerritos College women's basketball team was looking for a third in a row. The Falcons (4-4) opened with a 65-36 win over Reedley College for their ninth straight COS Tournament win, but were defeated by both Fresno City (73-59) and Santa Rosa Junior College (68-59) and were eliminated. They will now open South Coast Conference play on Friday at 8:00 p.m. against Mt. San Antonio, with the game to be played at Hope International University in Fullerton.

Cerritos 65, Reedley 36: Led by a balanced scoring attack, the Falcons easily dispatched the Tigers. Sophomore Deenesha Bee (Pioneer HS) scored a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds, as 10 diffwerent players scored. Additionally, the duo of sophomore Marissa Rendon (St. Paul HS) and freshman Nia Lateju (Norwalk HS) each scored nine points, while Lateju led the way with nine rebounds. Off the bench, freshman Dijonnae Murphy (Santa Fe HS) pulled down seven rebounds, with sophomore Diamond Roberts (Mayfair HS) contributing six points and six rebounds.

Fresno City 73, Cerritos 59: The 33 points scored by Rendon wasn't enough, as the Falcons fell behind early and were never able to pull ahead. She also added six rebounds and four assists, while the duo of Bee (eight rebounds) and sophomore Angela Pena (Huntington Park College Ready Academy HS) both finished with seven points, with freshman Samira Fields (Long Beach Wilson HS) posting four points and five boards.

Santa Rosa 68, Cerritos 59: The Falcons were eliminated from the tournament after their slow start forced them to play the entire game from behind. Trailing 33-17 at intermission, Cerritos didn't help their cause by converting only 9-of-25 free throws (36%) and received 17 points each from Pena (four rebounds, three assists) and Rendon (five rebounds).
