
Comets Battle Hard but Fall to Mt. San Jacinto, 82-73
SAN MARCOS, CA (11/20/2024) -- The Palomar College men's basketball team put up a strong fight but came up short against Mt. San Jacinto College, falling 82-73 in a game marked by intense competition and back-and-forth momentum.
Palomar's frontcourt shone in the loss, with forward Isaiah Pomare delivering another double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down a season-high 19 rebounds while adding three blocks and four steals. Guard Isaiah Tolmaire led the Comets in scoring with 15 points and five assists, pushing the offense with his trademark energy.
Max Zylicz provided a significant spark off the bench, draining four three-pointers en route to 16 points, while Jaidyn Norman added 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Palomar's defense forced 11 steals overall, keeping them in the game against a well-rounded Mt. San Jacinto squad.
Despite a solid effort, the Comets struggled to capitalize on second-chance opportunities, with Mt. San Jacinto outscoring them 20-10 in that category. The Eagles also edged out Palomar in points in the paint, 36-28, and shot a stronger percentage in the second half, which ultimately proved decisive.
Palomar drops to 2-2 on the season but showed resilience and flashes of brilliance. The Comets will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they aim to turn these lessons into future victories.
