Tigers Take Dons to the Limit

Riverside City College battled but came up just short in an 80-76 loss to No. 21-ranked Santa Ana College.

The Tigers slip to 9-12 on the year and 0-5 in Orange Empire Conference action, while the Dons improve to 16-5 overall and 3-2 in conference.

N'Dya Parks led four Tigers in double figures with 27 points on impressive 11-for-22 shooting and added 13 rebounds. Ariel Perkins chipped in 15 points (4-for-12) and dished out 10 assists, while Nave'ah Pina added 13 points (5-for-16). Talia Washington rounded out the quartet with 10 points (4-for-14) and grabbed 12 boards.

Heading down the stretch in the fourth, Parks stole the ball away and banked in a layup to put the Tigers within one point, 68-67.

Santa Ana tried to create some distance and took an eight-point lead with just about two and a half minutes left in the game, but Perkins sparked a 4-0 run after stealing the ball away twice. Parks put the Tigers back within one possession with 20 seconds but couldn't pull any closer as the Dons locked in the win.

The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, hosting Saddleback College at 6 p.m.
