Freshman goalie Fenix Nolasco (Paramount HS) came up with several big saves late in the fourth period to help preserve a 7-6 South Coast Conference win for the Cerritos College women's water polo team on Wednesday. Next up for the Falcons (2-4, 2-0) will be the Golden West Mini-Tournament on Friday, with the team slated to take on Los Angeles Valley College (9:50 a.m.) and Grossmont College (1:50 p.m.).

With Cerritos leading 7-6 late in the fourth period, the Panthers were awarded two separate five-meter penalty shots, with hopes of tying the game. But Nolasco, who made 10 saves on the day, came up with a huge save with 10 seconds left, while the other shot attempt hit the goal post.

The teams were tied five times in the game, with the Falcons receiving a late third period goal from freshman Fiona Glynn (Cerritos HS), while an early fourth period goal by Glynn put Cerritos up, 7-5. It was the largest lead of the day for either tea. The Panthers did get to within 7-6 after a goal with 3:08 remaining, but the Falcons kept them off the board the remainder of the game.

Along with Glynn's three second half goals, freshman Citlali Antonio (El Rancho HS) scored all three of her goals in the first half.
