TAFT, CA – In a dramatic encounter last week, Taft College Women's Soccer team faced off against a tenacious Allan Hancock College squad. From the outset, it was clear the Cougars were in for a tough match, with Allan Hancock coming out strong. The first 15 minutes saw Taft on the defensive, and despite best efforts, they conceded an early goal.
However, the second half painted a different picture. The team rallied brilliantly, displaying enhanced communication and mental toughness. Passes connected with precision, and the intensified effort paid off with two spectacular goals. Faith Lelouis and Hayley Smith found the back of the net, both assisted by the skilled Kai, turning the game around in favor of the Cougars.
Despite a late barrage of shots from their opponents, Taft held on to secure a well-deserved 2-1 victory. Taft Women's Soccer Head Coach Lyle Martin expressed his pride in the team's resilience to overcome the early setback, "It's great to see the team rally and fight back, but there are still areas we need to sharpen."
Looking forward to their conference home opener against Madera, it's clear that the victory has bolstered their confidence, and eager to maintain this momentum and continue improving both on and off the field.
