Eagles Drop Home Game Against Cerro Coso

The MSJC men's basketball team gave themselves a chance to win on Saturday afternoon but came away on the short end of a 76-67 score against visiting Cerro Coso.

The Eagles struggled to keep pace with the Coyotes on the boards as they were out rebounded in the contest 40-21. Cerro Coso also shot an impressive 15 of 26 from the field in the first half to build a 38-33 lead at the break. MSJC kept it close in the final 20 minutes cutting the lead to one at 56-55 on a pair of RJ Dawson free throws with 6:29 to play. The Coyotes responded by outscoring the Eagles 20-12 the rest of the way.

Adrian Mosley led four Eagles in double figures with a team high of 16 points, he also had 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Dawson finished with 11 points and both James Freeman IV and Isaiah Robinson added 10.

The Eagles were coming off a couple of tough losses last week as they fell on the road to both Barstow and San Bernardino Valley. Saturday January 11th MSJC lost at Barstow 96-74 despite 22 points from Mosley and 17 from Dawson. This past Wednesday the Eagles made a strong run at San Bernardino before the Wolverines pulled away in the final 10 minutes to win 90-72.

MSJC now stands at 5-13 overall this season and is 1-5 in conference games. The Eagles will play twice this week as they travel to Palo Verde on Wednesday and host Victor Valley on Saturday. Wednesday's game will tip-off at 7 pm and Saturday's game will begin at 3.
