RCC Closes Series with Top-Ranked Fullerton
Riverside City College closed out its Orange Empire Conference series with No. 1-ranked Fullerton College Friday afternoon with a 15-2 loss.
The Tigers drop to 11-26 on the year, 3-15 in conference, while the Hornets – who locked up the conference championship this week – improve to 32-3 and 18-0 in the OEC.
Five Tigers had hits in the game: Sheila Fernanda Cano, Bobbi Arce, Rebeca Razo, Samantha Sizemore, and Chloe Lockhart.
Despite trailing 12-0 after 3.5 innings, RCC didn't give up and Rebeca Razo put the Tigers on the board with a solo shot to dead center for her first home run of the season. It sparked a hitting spree for the Tigers as Chloe Lockhart and Samantha Sizemore knocked back-to-back base hits, but the Hornets grabbed the third out before the home team could gain any momentum.
Cano tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth after turning on the jets to come home on Arce's triple, but it was all Fullerton would allow as it closed out the game in five innings.
Riverside has one final OEC series left in the season, heading to Cypress College for the first two games of the series before closing out the year at home on April 25 at 3 p.m.
