Baseball Wins Three Games Against Porterville

After recording three wins over Porterville College last week, the Reedley College Tiger baseball team faces three key Central Valley Conference games with the College of the Sequoias Giants this week.
Both the Giants and Tigers are 5-1 in the CVC while Fresno City is 3-0 in conference play. COS has an overall record of 17-2 while the Tigers are 13-4.
The three-game series with COS begins in Reedley on March 3 with a 2 pm start. The Thursday game in Visalia begins at 2 pm before the series finale in Reedley on Saturday at 1 pm. The Saturday starter for COS is expected to be Benjamin Petersen, who pitched a perfect game against Taft last Saturday.
Reedley swept a three-game series with Porterville College, outscoring the Pirates 44-8. The most exciting game came on Tuesday when the Tigers took a 6-0 lead into the eighth inning before Porterville scored five runs. Tiger closer Cameron Gallardo came in and got a six-out save, striking out five of the seven batters he faced to preserve the 6-5 win.

In Reedley on Thursday, Haddad had five hits, scored five runs and drove in four more in a 19-2 victory. Jesse Holguin and Danny Gamez each had three hits and nine different Tigers drove in runs.
On Saturday in Porterville, Haddad had two more hits as 10 Tigers had RBI. Tresten Bumutay to drove in three. Freshman catcher Jordan Smith hit a two-run homer. Alex Escobar allowed only two hits and an unearned run in seven innings to get the win.
