The Chabot women's soccer team battled visiting Cabrillo to a 1-1 draw in a cross-conference match on Friday, Oct. 4.
The Glads (4-3-1) will open play in the Coast-South at Hartnell on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and then will host Clovis on Friday, Oct. 11 in a nonconference match.
The Glads controlled much of the possession against Cabrillo but couldn't find the breakthrough for the win. The draw came on the heels of a good battle in a loss to Las Positas, 2-0, in nonconference play.
The Glads' tying goal against the Seahawks came in the 30th minute by Marin Michieli assisted on a cross by Emily Hornig, a duo that continues to be a good combination.
Chabot goalkeeper Nat Hassmann, the Gladiator of the Month, made a brilliant save off a 25-yard free kick to preserve the point.
"Having the lion's share of possession and dominating throughout, we were not able to break down a very well-coached and organized Cabrillo team," Chabot coach Dan Chubbock said.
While calling the outcome a good result for his team, "we feel it may be two points dropped " he added.
