Playing in 100-degree temps in their non-conference game at San Bernardino Valley College on Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's soccer team ran out of energy before they could get another goal and dropped a 3-2 decision. The Falcons (0-3-1) return home Friday to host College of the Desert. Start time is slated for 3:00 p.m., but might get moved to earlier to avoid the midday heat.

Cerritos was able to jump out to a first half lead, as Sariah Sanchez (La Sierra HS) fed a nice pass to Ariana Rivera (Long Beach Millikan HS), who chipped the ball past Wolverines goalkeeper Rilee Shipman in the 16th minute.

However, San Bernardino Valley would account for the next three goals to open a 3-1 advantage. They scored those three goals within the first eight minutes of the second half, which chased starting goalkeeper Alexis Bakalar (Los Alamitos HS), who made one save in the game. Trinidad Arizmendi (El Rancho HS) came on in relief and turned away both shots on goal.

With time running out, sophomore Madi Jones (Liberty HS) got the Falcons to within 3-2 when she scored in the 81st minute. Cerritos got a chance to tie the game a minute later, but their final shot on goal was stopped.
