Palomar Dominates in Conference Opener, Takes Down Southwestern 14-10

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/9/2024) -- Palomar College women's water polo team made a splash in their conference opener, defeating Southwestern College 14-10 in an exciting showdown on Wednesday afternoon. Emily Freeman led the scoring spree with four goals, while teammates Madalyn McKellar and Ayano Tsuda each racked up three. Ruby Jones and Keyanna Mucino chipped in two goals apiece, with Jones dishing out three assists and Freeman adding two of her own.

In goal, Sophia Wicks stood strong for the first three quarters, making four saves and allowing nine goals. Laura Bodrogi took over in the fourth, shutting down Southwestern's offense with three saves and allowing just one goal to secure the win.

The Comets look to carry this momentum into the Ventura College tournament this weekend.
