The women's soccer team emerged as champions of the Mt. Sac/Nike/Azteca Soccer Tournament and capped off the tournament run with a 3-0 victory over the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes (Henderson, NV).
After a scoreless first half, the Panthers found their rhythm and scored three unanswered goals to seal the match. Nyomi Rivas broke the deadlock and opened the scoring at the 51st minute. The relentless pressure continued to pay off for the Panthers, with America Torres (Monet Dedeaux assist) doubling the lead at the 83rd minute. Jaelynn Hamlett (Evelyn Madrigal assist) added the final goal just two minutes later in the 85th minute.
Goalkeeper Leila Toki kept the Coyotes at bay and recorded a stellar shutout performance with four saves.
The Panthers will look to maintain this momentum in their upcoming away game on Tuesday, August 27, at Antelope Valley College.
