
The MSJC baseball team improved to 4-2 in conference play this week with a three-game sweep of San Bernardino Valley.
The Eagles started the week at home on Tuesday with a 14-9 victory over the Wolverines. MSJC scored runs in six of their eight offensive innings. Justin Granado drove home a team high four runs in the game while Juni Rodriguez drilled a homerun off the scoreboard and knocked in two on the day. Luke O'Brien added a pair of doubles and a pair of RBIs.
Thursday the Eagle bats stayed hot as they went on the road to San Bernardino and won 19-7. The Eagles in all had 19 hits, six for extra bases. Rodriguez hit a homerun for the second straight game and ended the afternoon with three RBIs. Ryan Rangel also hit a homerun and drove in four runs. Louie Arias added four RBIs in the win while both Derek Hurtado and Steven Felipe both knocked in three each.
Saturday back at home for the series finale the Eagles took advantage of twelve walks and four hit batters on their way to a 12-5 win. Matt Rezkalah drove home three runs and Felipe added a pair of RBIs. Easton Wagner earned the pitching victory as he threw five complete innings allowing four runs.
The Eagles who now stand at 5-11 overall on the season will step out of IEAC competition this week with three non-conference games. Tuesday MSJC will travel to Compton, before returning home on Thursday to take on LA Pierce at 1 pm. The Eagles will travel to LA to play Pierce again on Saturday in a game that will be played at LA Valley College.
