RCC Downs OCC in OEC Action
No. 2-ranked Riverside City College kept its top spot in the Orange Empire Conference standings after defeating No. 6-ranked Orange Coast College 11-7 Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 20-1 on the year and remain undefeated in OEC action at 4-0. The Pirates slip to 9-7 overall, 3-1 in conference.
Yosra Elseifi led RCC with six goals, while Presley Burrell and Abigail Ruiz each contributed two goals and Nicole Robertson also added a goal.
After some back-and-forth action in the first half of the first quarter, Riverside started to create some separation after Ruiz scored with just seconds on the clock to give the Tigers a two-goal lead, 4-2.
The Tigers carried momentum into the second quarter as Elseifi scored two quick goals and added another two in the third to push Riverside's cushion to five, 8-3.
OCC managed to score four goals in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Tigers as they held onto the 11-7 victory.
Riverside continues OEC play next week, heading to Saddleback College on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
