Golden West Cools Off Citrus

Golden West Cools Off Citrus

A day after coming alive at the plate yesterday, Citrus College was held to just three runs in a 12-3 defeat to Golden West College.

The Owls slip to 2-6 on the year, while the Rustlers improve to 2-1 with the win.

After a scoreless first inning, Citrus struck first in the top of the second. Mia Godoy led with a free trip to first and was joined on base by Ericka Pineda and Natalie Adams. Layla Enriquez laced a single to right, sending two Owls home, before Jillian Walker sacrificed a hit to plate Adams and put the Owls up 3-0.

The lead didn't last, however, as the Rustlers responded with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning. Golden West tacked on another run in the third and then ended the game early with four runs in the sixth to put the run-rule in play.

Citrus is back home to host the College of the Desert on Saturday at 1 p.m.
