CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress Chargers Women's Soccer team maintained their undefeated streak with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Long Beach City College in their home opener on Wednesday, improving to 6-0 overall. Ranked No. 1 in the nation by the NJCAA United Soccer Coaches and the only team from the Orange Empire Conference represented in the rankings, the Chargers showed why they're at the top.
In a physical match featuring a combined 22 fouls, Cypress dominated possession, outshooting Long Beach 14-4, including 9-1 in the first half. The game's only goal came at 38:55 when Alisa Kangas headed in a perfect free kick from Naomi Lee. Lee delivered the ball outside the right side of the box following a foul call, and Kangas directed it to the right corner, where it bounced past the goalkeeper into the net.
