SAN FRANCISCO – After being stopped just short of reaching the state championships for the eighth straight season last year, the City College of San Francisco men's basketball team will be on a mission to return.
That journey got started over the weekend as the Rams, ranked No. 1 in Northern California, opened the 2024-25 season with a pair of big wins at their home San Francisco Tipoff tournament. CCSF cruised to a 109-63 rout over College of Marin in its debut on Friday and followed with an 89-68 victory over Santa Rosa Junior College on Saturday.
Six different Rams scored in double-figures vs. Marin. Mason Harris came off the bench to record team-highs of 18 points and 8 rebounds. Rickey Mitchell Jr. had 14 points and 4 assists while King-Njhsanni Wilhite, John Squire, James Moore, and Nick Cubley all had 10 points each.
It was more of the same against Santa Rosa on Saturday. CCSF led 56-21 after the first half and was never threatened.
Harris and Wilhite led CCSF with 12 points in the win while Miles Amos added 11 points. Both Antonio Pulsateri and Squire totaled 10 points and 8 boards each.
CCSF, now 2-0, is back in action next weekend (Nov. 8-10) when it will compete at the three-day Alvin Hunter Classic, hosted by San Bernardino Valley College. The Rams are set to open on Friday against Santa Monica College at 3 p.m.
