With their 1-1 tie with Mt. San Jacinto College on Friday, the Cerritos College women's soccer team closed out their non-conference schedule. The Falcons (1-5-4) will open South Coast Conference play on Tuesday, October 8 at 1:30 p.m. when they host Long Beach City College.

Taking on the Eagles (4-2-4), the team found themselves trailing, 1-0 just 12 minutes into the game. Although they had the lead, the Falcons were able to contain them offensively the remainder of the first half, thanks to their ability to control possession of the ball.

It was just 10 minutes later when Cerritos would tie the game, as freshman Sariah Sanchez (La Serna HS) jumped on a loose ball in front of the net a sent a low shot into the far corner to tie the game.

The Falcons defense was led by Hypasha Garcia (Gahr HS), Rubi Vazquez (Sierra Vista HS/Mt. San Antonio College), Deanne Casillas (Warren HS) and Genesis Mendoza (Gahr HS), who limited Mt. San Jacinto to just one first half shot and only three shots on goal for the game.

By contrast, Cerritos was able to get offensive pressure and peppered Eagles goalkeeper Daisy Reyes with seven shots on goal, as well as 15 total shots. The Falcons had the best scoring chance late in the game when Jenna Santos (St. Joseph HS) fired a shot that deflected off Reyes and then the crossbar in the 90th minute.
