The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team went 2-2 competing in the Battle of the Beach Tournament over the weekend. Hosted by Long Beach City College and Cypress College, the two-day tournament produced high-level 3C2A Women's Water Polo competition.
Citrus' first game was against San Joaquin Delta College on Friday morning, October 25th which resulted in a 9-4 loss. Kori Cunningham led the way with three goals, eight steals and two exclusions drawn. Ryan Price scored one goal and added one steal. Goalie Natalie Abril recorded seven saves.
Game two of the day game in an afternoon matchup with Cuesta College, a team that the Owls lost to at home the day before on Thursday, October 25th. The Owls got their revenge on the Cougars by winning 9-8. Kori Cunningham scored four goals and recorded eight steals. Ryan Price scored two goals while Elizabeth Walls, Trinity Hulet, and Marieona Reedy all scored one goal each.
The Owls headed to Cypress College on Saturday for their first game of the day, a 10-8 loss against San Diego Miramar College. Maryeon Reedy and Kori Cunningham led the Owls with two goals each. Kori Cunningham led the Owls in steals with six while Elizabeth Walls, Trinity Hulet, Maryeon Reedy and Marieona Reedy all recorded two steals.
Citrus' last game of the Battle of the Beach Tournament came in a Saturday afternoon matchup against Merced College resulting in a dominant 16-4 win. Kori Cunningham led the Owls with five goals and six steals. Maryeon Reedy and Ryan Price each scored three goals. Natalie Abril had seven saves in the game while Audrey Jurado had five saves in goal.
Overall, Citrus College went 2-2 at the Battle of the Beach, bringing their season record to 12-14 overall and 3-2 in conference games.
The Owls are headed to Ventura College today, October 30th for a conference matchup at 2 p.m.
