Comets score one; looking for first win

PALM DESERT, CA (8/30/2024) — The Palomar College women's soccer team faced a challenging road test on Friday, falling 5-1 to College of the Desert. Despite the result, the Comets displayed resilience and moments of promise, particularly in the second half.

Palomar's breakthrough came in the 60th minute when Abigail Reyes scored the team's first goal of the season. Reyes connected on a well-placed assist from Macey Edemann, narrowing the score to 3-1 and providing a spark for the Comets. The goal highlighted Palomar's determination to stay competitive, even against a formidable opponent.

The Comets were active on offense, tallying 16 total shots throughout the match. Cameryn Clark led the way with three shots on goal, while Macey Edemann, Zusi Moran, Ariana Probst, and Namoli Allen each added one shot on target. The team's attacking efforts showcased their potential to create scoring opportunities moving forward.

In goal, Kaylee Cole had a standout performance, making nine saves on 14 shots on goal. Her efforts helped keep Palomar in the game and demonstrated her ability to handle pressure in tough situations.

As they look ahead, the Comets remain focused on refining their play and continuing to grow as a team. With the season just beginning, Palomar is eager to build on these early experiences and push for success in their upcoming matches. They will face Mt. San Jacinto College for their home opener on Tuesday at 6:30.
