At the South Coast Conference Tournament this week, the Cerritos College women's water polo team finished in fourth place, as they won one of their three games to close out the season. The Falcons, seeded #4 for the tournament, opened with a 3-1 win over East Los Angeles College, which sent them to the semifinals on Thursday. They then faced top-seeded Long Beach City College and absorbed an 18-2 loss. In their third-place game on Saturday, the Falcons suffered a n 18-6 loss at the hands of El Camino College and finished the season with a 6-22 record.
Cerritos vs. East Los Angeles: In a rare low scoring game, the Falcons came away with a 3-1 victory, which sent them to the semifinals. The team scored single goals in each of the three periods before the Huskies accounted for their lone goal in the fourth period. Freshman Citlali Antonio (El Rancho HS), who accounted for two of the three Cerritos goals, got the scoring started in the first period and then made it a 3-0 lead in the third. Freshman goalkeeper Fenix Nolasco (Paramount HS), who made eight saves in the match, also assisted on the team's second goal. Defensively, freshman Sophia Wainwright (Cerritos HS) posted a season-high seven steals, with the Falcons recording 12 in the match.

The Vikings opened a 10-0 lead after the first period, with Cerritos getting on the board in the third period to break a 14-0 run by LB City. Kylee McKenna (Sky Mountain Charter HS) and Miranda Blanco (Paramount HS) accounted for the two Falcon goals, while Nolasco made nine saves.
Cerritos vs. El Camino: In their third-place game, Antonio scored four of the team's goals, but they could not overcome the Warriors, who opened a 10-4 lead through the first half. Nolasco, who turned away seven shots in net, also assisted on three of the goals.
