BASEBALL DROPS A QUICK ONE TO CERRITOS AT HOME
In just under two hours, Chaffey Baseball hosted Cerritos in a three run game, falling 2-1 to the visiting Falcons.
The Panthers put the first run on the board off a Ryan Melton RBI that scored AJ (Armando) Hurtado in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Cerritos quickly answered back in the third with a single run off a sac fly to centerfield. The teams remained deadlocked until the 6th when Cerritos again scored off a sac fly, this time to the right. The Panthers were unable to score despite making connection with the ball.
Brock Mayer took the loss for the bullpen, facing off against 23 batters in six innings of play. Mayer had six strikeouts. Brian Garcia relieved to start the 7th.
The Panthers are on the road the holiday long weekend, first at Citrus Friday then West LA for a double on Saturday. The team returns home Tuesday to take on Victor Valley in the IEAC season opener.
