Gearing up for their much-anticipated match with rival Long Beach City College next Wednesday night, the Cerritos College volleyball team swept past host Compton College, 25-6, 25-14, 25-6. The win was the sixth in a row for the state's #13-ranked Falcons (10-2, 2-0), who will face the #2-ranked Vikings (14-0, 2-0) at 6:00 p.m. at The Aviary.

The lopsided win allowed the team to look to their reserves for more support and freshmen Josie Navarro (Sierra Vista HS) and Evelyn Soto-Castro (Schurr HS) came through with a combined 10 kills without committing an attack error. Sophomore Sydney May (Los Alamitos HS/UC Santa Cruz) returned to action after missing the last match and led the team with 10 kills, to go along with 19 assists, nine digs and five service aces. Sophomore Lillianna Peterson (California HS) checked in with seven kills, with sophomore Brisa Cortez (Schurr HS) adding six kills.

Sophomore Leeya Rubio (Schurr HS) directed the offense to 20 assists and added a pair of kills, with sophomore Priscilla Castillo (Schurr HS) led the back row with 17 digs in the win.
